Vita B. Walton peacefully transitioned to her eternal rest on December 28, 2024, at the blessed age of 98. Born on June 28, 1926, in Scaife, Arkansas, a historic town once four miles southwest of Eudora, she was one of eleven children born to Monridge Cashier, Jr. and Elizabeth Josephine Potts.

Mother Walton dedicated her life to glorifying God, serving her family and uplifting her community. As a lifelong member of Zion Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, she held the esteemed title of Mother of the Church, a role she fulfilled with unparalleled wisdom, compassion, and steadfast dedication.

For nearly a century, Mother Walton witnessed generations grow under her nurturing care. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and a spiritual mother to countless others.

In 1943 she married Clifton Walton, Sr. To this union eleven children were born, and the Walton's legacy took flight. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and four of their children: Clifton Walton, Jr., Aaron Walton, Curtis Walton and Gloria White.

She is survived by seven children: Erma Jean Walton, Clara Walton, Laura Walton, Alma Walton, Edna Walton, Eddie Walton, Sr., and Melton Walton; twenty-eight grandchildren, fifty great grandchildren, twenty-seven great-great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held on January 4, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Zion Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Glenn Donald officiating. Interment was at the Masons Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Antonio Walton, Joseph Earl Walton II, KenTrel Walton, Dantrell Walton, Donyel Walton, Breshard Walton and Eddie Walton, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Walton, Jr., Melvin Walton, Thomas White, Sammy Walton, Albert Earl Walton, and James Earl Walton.
