Gregory Lamont Brown was born May 22, 1958 in Chicago, Illinois to L T and Emma Brown. Shortly after his birth, his parents moved him to Eudora, Arkansas with his grandparents, Petter and Viola Griggs, who raised him. He passed away on December 6, 2024 at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville, Mississippi.
Gregory confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized in 1973. He became an active member of Jericho Missionary Baptist Church.
Gregory attended G. C. Johns Elementary School. He graduated from Eudora High School in 1976. After graduation he joined the U. S. Army and served for 17 years. After leaving the Army, Gregory moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where he was employed by Meto Transit Authority for 20 plus years. Upon his retirement and with failing health, he returned to his home in Eudora, Arkansas where, due to the love and support of friends and family, his last days were his best days.
Gregory leaves to cherish his memory: a loving companion, Irma Keith; two sisters: Hellener (Lawrence) Holland and Beverly Willis; two brothers: Rodney Brown and Darrell Brown; two loving and attentive cousins/brothers: Johnny Ray Brown and Ivory Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Jericho M. B. Church in Eudora, AR with Reverend Albert L. Jones, Sr. officiating. The funeral was held on December 20, 2024 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Forest Park, IL. Interment was held at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Hillside, IL.
